Colonial R.F.T.C. was formed in 1948 for the purpose of training and testing the merits of retrievers in the field, and promoting the use of retrievers as hunting companions. With waterfowl populations pressured by declining habitat, the use of retrievers for conservation of game is increasingly necessary.

Our membership consists of both hunters and non-hunters, with some who train their canine athletes for retriever competition and hunters who train their retrievers to minimize the loss of shot game during the hunting seasons.

Our club is based in Massachusetts and most of our membership is of the New England states.   We are represented by several breeds of retrievers, including Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, Flatcoated Retrievers, Chesapeake Bay Retrievers, Standard Poodles and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers.

Each year, we host spring training sessions, an AKC Licensed Hunting Test, and  Spring and Fall AKC Licensed Field Trials.

Membership offers many opportunities for those learning to train retrievers for the field and we welcome all inquiries.  For more information, please contact us.
